EU Projects - February 2022

Twice a month, discover the latest European Projects of our members.

Aitex participates in reinventing the textile industry with advanced Myco-fibres (My-Fi)

AITEX is participating in the European project MY-FI, which contributes to further improving the EU textile industry by developing mycelium-based fabrics. Such innovative materials are fully biobased, customizable, highly performing, and can be produced through advanced manufacturing processes.

Mycelium fabrics have the potential to match the consumers’ demands for sustainable and functional products, opening new designing opportunities for several market applications (fashion, automotive, etc), resulting in positive economic impact and environmental relief. By valorising other industries’ residues, MY-FI will contribute to implementing a cross-sectoral approach to Circular Economy, enhancing the competitiveness of local value chains.

CISUFLO: Circular Sustainable Floor coverings

The CISUFLO project aims to develop innovative circular products for the flooring industry, prompting, in the long run, the adoption of a circular economy model throughout the entire value chain and beyond. The work plan foresees the implementation of six pilots focusing on manufacturing, sorting, separation, and recycling of floor coverings and on the scaling up of novel technologies, covering three different flooring types, namely carpets, resilient flooring products, and wood laminates.

The project will have a positive impact that will go beyond flooring, establishing new synergies with other linked sectors and providing policymakers with useful inputs for standardization and legislation.
