CISUTAC partners gathered at the General Assembly to share among the consortium the latest updates about the project. The meeting delved into various work packages aimed at increasing circularity and sustainability in textiles and clothing in Europe.
We heard about the significant advancement in advanced repair and disassembly workstation, focusing on zipper repair and firefighter suit disassembly, that are now being piloted in Italy and Belgium, at Decathlon Italia and Kringwinkel Antwerp. The role of AI was also mentioned as it is being used for image reconstruction and precise part detection (e.g., buttons, collars, belts) in some of our CISUTAC activities. The consortium then split into different several working groups to review the project progress in terms of innovations and potential commercialisation. We also discussed the upcoming data guide for DPP, which will take the form of a digital platform with matching data collection and data exchange.
We had the incredible opportunity to not only discuss crucial project developments but also visit our consortium partner Decathlon Italy's warehouse, where we had the chance to witness first-hand the CISUTAC zipper repair workstation in action: from issue-identifying scans to zipper removal to resewing!
CISUTAC consortium members expressed enthusiasm and commitment to driving sustainability in the textile and apparel sector, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve a more circular future.
