The evaluation of the 35 eligible applications of the first open call for SmartX funding was successfully completed in early April. Of the 35 proposals, 16 exceeded the evaluation threshold, confirming both the generally high quality of submitted applications, but also the rigorous evaluation process which assessed the business innovation potential, the technical and operational capacities of the participants and the European smart textile acceleration potential of the project.
Approximately 700,000 € of EU funds are available for the first call, which allows us to support the 9 highest ranked projects. These 9 projects include a total of 16 individual SMEs. Each of them will receive direct funding of up to 60,000 €. The 16 funded SMEs are from 8 different European countries.
The projects are expected to start between May and July 2020 and last for 12 to 15 months. Their focus will be on smart textile innovations in the field of personal protection, sports, health and well-being.
More information about the funded projects and participating SMEs will be made available in June.
